Trump's 'wiretapp' misstatement now a LIE

Donald Trump tweeted that President Obama had him wiretapped during the election campaign.

Now the House of Representatives has held hearings and the FBI director said, in effect, that was not true.

OK, so the tweet was a mistake, own up to it and apologize to President Obama. Case closed.

But now, Trump is not admitting anything. In my mind, this now clearly moves from a possible mistaken tweet to a lie. This is denying reality and pressing on with a lie.

This is far more serious than President Clinton's lies about sex but he was Impeached for lying. This is one president calling another president a criminal. When does (did?) this become impeachable? How long will the House put up with stuff like this? How long?

Call your Representative and ask her or him - how long?

An experiment with Linux

I was upgrading my laptop to a 1000 gig harddrive from a 250 gig disk. I was running out of space. so it was cheaper and a little faster for a newer drive.

I tried the official way to backup and restore the whole drive but even the backup part didn't work from Winders. That has been my entire complaint against Ms's backp attempts.
So I decided to rebuild the whole PC, installing all the programs anew from downloaded sources.

Well, guess what? MY legal product key wasn't good enough to move to another machine. Fuck that!

LINUX HERE I COME!
So once again I have set a marker. Nine (9) years ago I decided to try openoffice on my windows machine. I thought I'd run it until I could not exchange documents with other employees or other people who used Microsoft Office that I communicated with.

It never happend. I'm still exchanging docs with everyone. Bye Bye Microsoft Office.
Now in 2017, I'm trying the same thing with my operating system (OS - that was Windows 7). My plan is to use Linux Mint. Mint is much like Windows and I've installed every program (aka App) as I've realized it is missing. So far nothing has been missing. Here's my list in case you've got some special program:

LibreOffice (instead of OpenOffice)
Firefox (instead of Microcsoft Explorer (or Edge) - but I already ran Firefox and Chrome on Winders)
Thunderbird (already ran it on Winders, now runs on Linux)
Password Safe
Dropbox
VirtualBox

so you get the idea, whatever you run on Winders can be found on Linux.

I like the LInux version -  Mint because it seems much closer to  Winder for the interface. You can figure it out without much trouble and it will save you ALL the horrible issues of moving  between newer computers - without all the failures I found of trynig Windows copy/backup of your files and any copy protection crap. Look. if your backups and copying all work, tell the world on Facebook or whatever.

My copy stuff didn't work for shucks, and I'm a computer expert. Maybe that is my problem with computers, as always, your milleage may vary.
.
And if a program isn't available for Linux, there is Wine ...

My davice, go for it - you do NOT need Winders!

When do we call it?

Yeah, I'm talking impeachment.

Everyone in Washington D. C. is talking about it in hushed terms. Not enough to be reported on the 6 o'clock news. But They are talking about it. Ask your Senator (but probably not your Rep).

When does the crazy get to be too much? The "wiretap" claims by the president are proving to be untrue. So, did President Trump lie? Did he have a rightwing TV induce brain fart? Is he delusional? More than 'inquiring minds' want to know. The future or our nation is clearly at stake.

So I'm stating the President, Donald Trump must step down. Mark this date. I hope many people have pre-dated me in this call. And here is this call:

Mr. Trump,
You have violated so many US laws and Constitutional limitations that you must either stop down (as Presiden Nixon did) or the Congress must Impeach you.

Wheels on the Bus

You know this song, sing it with me:

The wheels on the bus are coming off, coming off, coming off
The wheels on the bus are coming off, coming off, coming off
The Trump Admin - i - stra - tion

I lived through Watergate. It was painful to watch but eventually good for the country. The only difference I see now is that this is happening much faster.

First Flynn, now Sessions; it is just like watching the start of Watergate again.

Smells Like Teen Watergate

I lived through the Watergate scandal. It took a long time. There were hearings that dragged on through the summer of 1973 when I was about to be married.

Then in 1975, I worked at a TV station in Fairbanks and was the first Alaskan to hear President Nixon resign (but just by a few milliseconds).

This time, maybe I'm sensitive to more political goings-on but, it sure seems like the Trump administration is heading for a severe crash.

I've also lived through the Iran-Contra scandal, the Impeachment of President Clinton for 'lying' and a whole lotta other crap.

Now I see the President-elect refusing a lot of what has been normal procedure in the past: releasing tax returns, putting his business in a (true) blind trust, talking with the press. And he is praising foreign leaders that America has conflicts, or potential conflicts with.

I could go on about Trump but I think this is just groundwork. Somewhere ahead of him will come a 'You can't handle the truth' moment (You really need a reference?) where Jack Nicholson blows up and admits he violated the law in a murder.

It might be how he played his business above the United States or it might be actions that turn out to be treasonous. But I predict one of these things will unseat him.

That is, if Congress has the courage to protect our Union.

OK Civics Class the Electoral College unit is complete; up next ...

We all studied how the heck the Electoral College could turn a 2.8 million vote majority into a loss. Very good, you learned a lot about the history, the clashes, and the compromises that formed this part of the Constitution.

The next unit will be on Impeachment and removal of the President. Study the Constitution: Article Two, Section Four. Quiz on Friday.

A crazy religious idea

Islam, Judiasm, and Christianity all have the same God. They all have Abraham as their founding father. Jesus is Jewish, Christians believe he is the Son of God, Muslims believe he is a great Prophet. We all share important aspects of our common religion.

Our God has many names, Jehovah, YHWH (Yah-whey), God, Allah.

Let's call God by one, universal name. But which one?

Allah. I'm a Christian and think of God but why not use God's newest name?  Jews and Christians will have some reluctance and some learning to do. Me too! That learning about our Islamic kin is a good thing. Let us use our commonality to unite us rather than divide us. It is another way to start important conversations.

I also think a common name for our God, Allah, will make hating others tougher.

What do you think? Dig deep into your prejudices and I will dig into mine too.
