A Legal Schrodinger's Cat

Yes, the states of Washington and Colorado have done the seemingly impossible.  Like Schrodinger's Cat that is both alive AND dead until you look in the box to make it become one or the other, the state's marijuana laws that legalize pot possession run afoul of the federal laws that still make it illegal. 

So possessing pot in Washington and Colorado is both legal AND illegal.  And like the Cat, you won't know know if marijuana is legal or not until you smoke it and get busted, or not.

One Question for undecided voters

It is election eve and for you undecided voters I have created a single question that you can use to decide who to vote for president. 

Here it is:

Do you earn $250,000 or more each year?

If you answered YES then vote for Mitt Romney
If you answered NO   then vote for Barack Obama

If you vote the other way then you are voting against your own financial well being.

You are welcome.  Now get out there and vote!

Elections: Donors does equal Owners

I wrote some of my state legislators that are also friends about what Washington State cold do about money in politics.  I specifically asked if the state could institute some method to publicly fund state elections. 

I got a well reasoned explanation that the Supreme Court decision applied to state elections too so there is no way our state could attempt to fix the outcome of the Citizens United decision. 

When a hacker takes control of a computer, they say that computer is 'pwned' (pronounced powned, just 'owned' with a 'p' in front).  Well it looks like our fine political system will be pwned for quite some time.

Romney accuses Cheney, tips VP pick

In an apparent slight of former VP Dick Cheney, who was all but implicated in the leak of Valerie Plaime Wilson's CIA employment (which is a Federal offense) Mitt Romney said, “Whoever provided classified information to the media seeking political advantage for the administration must be exposed, dismissed and punished,”

Since Cheney had recently complained that Sarah Palin was 'not ready' to be Vice President, speculators wondered if it was a defensive move by the Romney campaign to redeem Sarah Palin.  Insiders claimed Sarah would never give up her Fox News salary to be shut in the VP closet in Washington.

Romney was in Israel helping rattle sabers about being 'tough' on Iran.  This is scary because many (most?) of his foreign policy advisors are directly from the Bush administration - and you remember how well those wars went :(

Get out your old yard signs that said No Iraq War, replace the 'q' with an 'n' and you're all set.

Why would any woman vote Republican?

Full disclosure: I am a man. A very blessed man, in the company of smart, strong, uppity women - some of them used to be Republicans.

I listened to news about Rush Limbaugh using very crude language decsribing a college student who wanted to testify to Congress. Then Mitt Romney said something about the fact he would not have used those words. Uh, Mitt, it was time to denounce Rush, not pull out the thesaurus. Then Rush wanted every woman on birth control to send him sex tapes. Not sure what Mitt thinks about that (stag party).

Rick Santorum avoided this by wanting to ban, not just abortions, but birth control. I thing he'd probably be in favor of some of the states' bills to force women to have intrusive ultrasounds before an abortion. Why do the small government men always want government inspectors in your bedroom?

Even libertarian Ron Paul, who thinks people should be able to choose whether to use heroin or not, won't let a woman choose to have an abortion? Maybe it's ok if she is a junkie too?


Who does that leave? Newt? Mr Third-times-the-charm?

Like I said, Why would any woman, and I mean any woman, vote Republican?
